Whether it was this shared passion for underwriting or something else in the Farm Bureau Insurance air, Gail and Gordon decided to underwrite their own story, tying the knot in a Las Vegas ceremony at the Little White Chapel. Years later, they are still confident they hit the jackpot.
The “First Couple” of the Insurance Grassroots Network, Gail and Gordon Briggs, Indianapolis, not only live together, but work together at Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance. Gordon works as a personal lines specialist, based in the Lebanon office. Gail works at the Indianapolis home office as the team leader of the policy support division.
Outside of the office, Gail and Gordon enjoy spending time with their children, two cats and 12-year-old dog, Dusty. Poor Dusty is losing his sight and hearing, but Gordon and Gail love him all the same. The kids are in college, one at St. Joseph studying to be a vet - maybe to help out ol' Dusty. For fun the couple dines out at their favorite restaurant, which according to Gail is wherever Gordon decides to eat. However, Gordon makes his choice based on the fact they both enjoy a good steak. Their top choice restaurants for top choice meat are Texas Roadhouse, Red Lobster, and even local restaurant Boulder Creek.
For a more relaxing activity, Gordon likes to watch Jeopardy and hopes to one day to be on the show. He has already sat for the Jeopardy exam. Although he has not made it yet, he’s hoping with a little help from Oprah, he can make his wish come true. Traveling is another way these two get in some much needed rest and relaxation together. Gail and Gordon headed off to Hawaii together to receive Gordon's CPCU certificate.
Gail and Gordon keep their eyes on things that affect insurance risk. As members of the Insurance Grassroots Network, they also keep a watch of the General Assembly. “Government doesn’t work unless people get involved,” said Gail. “It is important we make sure the legislature hears our voices on the important issues of the day.” Gordon agreed and noted we all have a shared interest in what happens.
