Ryan Gibson is a man on the move. A graduate of the Indiana University School of Law in Indianapolis, he recently passed the Bar Exam to become a licensed attorney in the State of Indiana.
Ryan completed law school while working full-time, first at Travelers Insurance as a litigation adjuster and now at Indiana Lumbermens Mutual Insurance Company as the Litigation Coordinator. He continues to serve in this capacity, and among other things, supervises the handling of, or directly handles, complex litigation that presents potentially catastrophic or large exposure. Ryan also provides legal, technical, and cost control guidance as litigation manager for the Claims Department.
Given Ryan’s busy work and school schedule in recent years, you might expect to find him in two places at the same time. This could be a distinct possibility because Ryan holds dual citizenship for both the United States and Ireland. However, he does manage to make free time for leisure activities.
Ryan enjoys riding his motorcycle, including trips down to the Smokey Mountains twice a year with friends. He also spends time with his two three-and-one-half year old weimaraners named Duke and Lola. If you are dining in town, you might find Ryan at his favorite restaurant, Naked Tchopstix.
In addition to being a member of the Insurance Grassroots Network, Ryan also participates in the Institute’s Legislative Steering Committee. He believes active involvement by insurance professionals in the Insurance Grassroots Network is important.
“Participating in the Grassroots Network is an excellent way to stay informed of issues affecting the insurance industry and allows for an opportunity to help control our destiny by working to promote positive legislative changes and to avoid negative ones,” said Gibson. “It is also a great way to meet and network with other industry professionals and your state legislators while learning and participating in the democratic process.”
The Insurance Grassroots Network is a communications system that connects employees of the insurance industry with their elected state lawmakers. Its purpose is to educate and guide Indiana policymakers on critical insurance issues. The Insurance Grassroots Network was created in 1987 to connect knowledgeable industry professionals with the lawmakers who need that knowledge to make sound policy decisions.
